Heritage homes
Older Eaglehawk houses and what lies beneath
Many of Eaglehawk's older homes have been extended and updated over the years, but the drains underneath are often original. Clay pipe, tight bends and connections added at different times all make an older system more prone to blockages. Clay pipe can also crack where the ground has moved, letting soil wash in along with the roots.
Tree roots are the most frequent cause. Established trees in older gardens and along fence lines can push roots into joints until a line is almost completely closed off. Look out for gurgling, several fixtures draining slowly at once, and an overflow relief gully that spills when the house is in heavy use.
In older homes, pipework may also pass under verandahs, paths or later additions at the back of the house. Knowing where it runs makes any future work easier, and a camera inspection with our electromagnetic locator can mark the line's position and depth from the surface.
Town centre
Keeping commercial drains moving
For businesses in the centre of Eaglehawk, a blocked drain is more than an inconvenience. Toilets out of action, a kitchen that cannot drain or wastewater backing up into a shop all affect trade. Commercial lines tend to block with:
- grease and food waste from kitchens and food preparation areas, including fat that has slipped past a grease trap
- paper towel and sanitary products in customer and staff toilets
- silt and leaves in rear yards, car parks and roof drainage
Older commercial buildings often have large roof areas, and when the stormwater pipe below is partly blocked, downpipes at the back of the building can overflow into the yard during heavy rain.
We clear these lines with high-pressure jetting and can set up regular drain cleaning and maintenance, so problems are dealt with before they close the doors.

If you need a blocked drain plumber in Eaglehawk for something less urgent, we will talk through timing that suits you or your business. If a toilet block or kitchen drain fails overnight or on a weekend, calling early gives the best chance of having it cleared before trading starts.
How we work
Assess, clear, then follow up
Every Eaglehawk job follows the same four steps. You get in touch and tell us what is happening. We assess and diagnose the problem, using a CCTV camera where the cause is not obvious. Then we solve the blockage and restore flow, and finally we follow up so you know what we found and what, if anything, to keep an eye on. For recurring problems, that follow-up is also a good time to talk about whether maintenance jetting makes sense. It is the same process whether the call comes from a homeowner or a business.
